Whale Watching & the Fort
5.30am departure for Mirissa harbour. Blue whale watching boat departs at 6.30am in the deep-water channel. Return by 10.30am. Coast road west to Galle. Amangalla — the Aman property inside Galle Fort, a Colonial suite. Dinner at the Amangalla dining room.

A private Galle Fort historian walk in the morning — two hours of the fort's 400-year history. Afternoon: boutique shops, gem merchants. A sundowner at the Amangalla bar — a gin and tonic at 5pm in a building that has served drinks since the 17th century.

Drive north to Bentota. A private beachfront villa on the Bentota coast. Madu River mangrove boat safari in the afternoon. At 7pm, the private chef sets up a candlelit dinner table on the beachfront terrace. Seven courses of Sri Lanka's finest produce.
