There are four wildlife encounters in Sri Lanka that are genuinely without equivalent anywhere else in the Indian Ocean.

A Yala dawn with a private tracker in Block 1 — the world's most leopard-dense protected area. The Minneriya elephant gathering — up to 300 wild Asian elephants at a single reservoir. The Gal Oya boat safari — elephants swimming between islands, approached by silent flat-bottomed boat. And the Wilpattu villu at dawn — a leopard at the water's edge and no other vehicle in any direction.

The Private Safari Circuit collects all four. Twelve days. One dedicated tracker. Your private jeep. The complete Sri Lanka wildlife experience, done at the standard it deserves.

Why This Circuit Exists

Most Sri Lanka safari packages visit one park — usually Yala. Some visit two. None visit all four of the country's genuinely world-class wildlife destinations in a single circuit with a single dedicated tracker who knows the terrain of each.

The tracker who accompanies you for twelve days is not a rotating roster of local guides. He is a single expert who has navigated Yala's Block 1 for eleven years, knows the Gal Oya reservoir as well as any person alive, and has spent the equivalent of months at Wilpattu's villu system. By Day 3, he knows your photography preferences, your patience threshold, and your interest in birds versus mammals.

The difference between a private safari and a shared jeep safari is not comfort. It is timing. A private jeep enters the park when your tracker decides, positions where the animals are, and stays as long as the encounter lasts. On a shared jeep, the driver moves when the group decides.

Your Dedicated Wildlife Tracker

Dedicated Wildlife Tracker

A single expert who travels all 12 days with you — 11 years navigating Yala Block 1, intimate knowledge of all four parks, radio network access for real-time leopard intelligence.

Private Jeep Throughout

Your own vehicle at every park. Enter when your tracker decides. Position where the animals are. Stay as long as the encounter lasts. No group timing constraints.

85% leopard sighting rate: Across five days at Yala and Wilpattu with a dedicated expert tracker — the highest probability available for any safari circuit in Sri Lanka.

Frequently Asked Questions

What four parks are covered on the Private Safari Circuit?
Wilpattu (Sri Lanka's largest, least visited — villu lake system, leopard, sloth bear), Minneriya (the elephant gathering — up to 300 wild elephants), Gal Oya (boat safari — elephants swimming between reservoir islands), and Yala Block 1 (world's highest leopard density). Together they cover every major wildlife experience in Sri Lanka.
What is the probability of seeing a leopard?
Across two days at Yala and two days at Wilpattu, with a dedicated expert tracker and private jeep, Zelenso guests report a leopard sighting rate of approximately 85%. No wildlife encounter is guaranteed, but this represents the highest probability available.
What is the Gal Oya boat safari?
A wildlife experience conducted by flat-bottomed boat across the 25,000-acre Senanayake Samudra reservoir. The primary spectacle is wild elephant herds swimming between the reservoir's islands — approached by silent boat at distances no land vehicle can achieve.
How much does the Private Safari Circuit cost?
The service fee starts from £2,100 per person. With all five safari lodge properties included, the all-in cost is approximately £4,200 per person excluding flights. The dedicated tracker is included throughout.
What is the best time of year for all four parks?
January through April has all four parks open and in excellent condition. June through August also works — Yala and Wilpattu are excellent, Gal Oya is at its best, and Minneriya's gathering peaks in August. Whale watching at Mirissa runs November through April only.
